Thursday Paddle - Lo Po at 5.2 ft. - Barb Brown
Author Last Post
A jolly and enthusiastic crew of 10 happily embarked on the Potomac at 5.2 ft.  We included Louise Morris, Wayne McDaniel, Gus Anderson, David Cottingham, Carrie Singer, Ursy and Carter, Melissa Ashby, and Bill Branson. At over five feet the river was a continuous playground. Offut had a wonderful surfing wave. Yellow Falls was full of holes and diagonals. Alternative routes opened up - the channel below Offut was open but the final escape ferry was challenging and a miss led through a well watered grove of trees - it made a dangerously serious slalom course. Stubblefield though washed out was far from flat with bubbles and whirls in the washout. Best of all the back channel behind Plumbers Island was bank full and gave us a lovely short cut to the takeout. I guess the best compliment of all was Louise who asked in all seriousness if anyone wanted to do it again!!!???. All politely declined and four of us lunched at Fish Taco.   Barb
