Little Falls - 7/22/21 (Thursday Paddlers)
Author Last Post

Five of us took advantage of a beautiful day (with moderate temperatures and—can you believe it?—low humidity!) to run Little Falls. Kayaks: Anne Kibler, Chris Oberlin, John Snitzer; Canoes: Larry Lempert, Ginny Quam. Level: 2.99 (finally, under 3 feet, if only by .01), about an hour and a half before low tide by the time we took out. (Given that timing, the rocky, muddy takeout, with almost no water, was awful--but at least there was plenty of water in the canal.) Three ran Beaver Slide. At the main drop, two went left down the Maryland side and three took the Virginia slot. The water was pushing hard into a curler at the wall by the Room of Doom, leading to one close call and one roll.
