Trip Reports

Thurs Pad - Little Falls @ 2,73 ft - 5 Aug
Author Last Post

Bob Maxey took about 14 of us down a well-watered Z Channel and into the Potomac on a cool and bright day with minimal flow - which accentuates the four intermediate rapids - and opens up new possibilities in the Final Rapid - esp on the Virginia side. Tide was out. We had: Wayne, Mark B, JSnitzer, Gus, Anne K, Dave M, Chris Oberlin, Howard, Larry L, Ginny Q, Lisa W, Alf, Mike K. (and ashore: Gary Q, Peter R) [sorry that I'm missing a couple]. At LF proper, noone got out to scout - and all ran successful lines - incl on the Virginia Side - Mark, Anne, Larry, Bob, and Gus. We suspect that there is some blockage at the lip of the Feeder Canal above Charlie's Little Shop of Horrors, for, while Z-Channel was full, there was minimal water coming down the Beaver Slide, meaning it was non-navigable.

The River's stage & volume continues to drop - from Thursday's 2.73 ft / 2,040 cfs, it is now (Sunday) - 2.71 / 1,950 cfs.
