Bloomington Release - 28 Aug.

By Mike Keefe

On 8-28-2021 six sturdy paddlers made their way to Bloomington, MD for an adventure on the Potomac North Fork. Hendrik van Oss showed awesome control in his open canoe, while the other paddlers, David Pirtle, John Enagonio, Bruce Campbell, Ron Ray and Mike Keefe participated in whitewater kayaks.

While the air temperature was in the 90’s, the bottom released water was much colder and had the effect of keeping the air just above the water surface quite comfortable. Even with paddle jackets we remained a cool bunch of dudes!

Dave proved to be an absolute surfing maniac, catching almost every wave the Potomac had to offer. There were neither capsizes nor swims and Hendrik shipped only ounces of water.

The very reasonable fee of $2/head was assessed at the West Virginia putin. The “changing rooms” at the takeout have seen better days however. Boards with protruding nails were found on the floors.
