Trip Reports

GW Canal @ 3.32' August 14, 2022
Author Last Post

16(!) paddlers took advantage of the superb weather (sunny and in the high 70s) to paddle this morning. In view of the numbers we divided into three groups: John S and Alan G ran Seneca Breaks; Hendrik vO, Mikey B, Tim T & Wayne McD ran the George Washington Canal as the river runners; followed by the the eddy catchers – Barb B, Dan R, Diane H, George, Gus A, Jackie H, Jamie H (PFD), John E, Sharon O & Toni B. The river was at a moderate level on the Little Falls gauge – 3.31’, 4610 cfs. We were greeted at the put-in by a pair of circling eagles. No major carnage to report, although one paddler did engage in an unscheduled examination of the river bottom. C&O turtle count = 25.
