Casselman River - Pick-Up - Thur, 6 May
An early heads up. I have to pick my recently repaired Shredder up in Ohiopyle so I am watching the gauges for the Casselman. If it stays in the AW runnable range after Wednesday's rain I would like to lead a trip on the Casselman this Thursday. Markleton gauge at the put-in shows 2,080 cfs [min: 500]
The Casselman is a lovely class 2/3 run with lots of fun eddies at lower levels or big wave trains at the higher levels.
Laurel Hill could be a possible back up if the Casselman is to high but I have only paddled it once, so that would be a bit of an exploratory mission.
I've heard that Laurel Hill is a class 2+/ easy 3 creeky type run. I have only run it when it was bankful with large wave trains - so rescue would have been difficult. I do not want to lead a trip at that level. Ursina reads 1,570 cfs [min: 450]
I would like to meet at 11:00 a.m. at the Fort Hill take-out on Casselman river right (railroad track side).
My phone number is 240-707-0443. Email is yakmom_8@yahoo.com. Let me know if you are interested. ///// Please do not just show up at the take-out, as plans are subject to change based on Wednesday's rain.
