Sunday Paddle - Violettes Lock - GW Canal Loop - 4.3 ft
For this week’s trip we will remain at the Class II George Washington Canal. We will cross the Potomac to run the canal and then re-cross to return via the C&O Canal. Meet at 9:30 am at the Violette’s Lock parking lot, 13948 Violette’s Lock Rd, Poolesville MD. Be on the river and ready to paddle by 10:00 a.m. As always, please let the trip coordinator, Tim Tilson know if you will be joining. If you have not run this before please contact him ahead of time. <br /><br />The weather forecast is partly cloudy with a high in the mid 70s The forecast river level is 4.3’ on the Little Falls gauge, a high level for this section of river. <br /><br />PFDs are required for all. Helmets are required for kayakers using spray skirts and highly recommended for all others. Airbags are strongly encouraged for boats without other means of flotation. If you need safety equipment, please advise the trip coordinator in advance.<br /><br /><br />CCA Covid-19 Guidance<br /><br />Fully vaccinated people can congregate in small groups, share shuttle rides and carpooling together, etc., consistent with CDC Guidelines. <br /><br />For groups that include un-vaccinated people, masks should continue to be worn, consistent with CDC Guidelines. <br /><br />Auto shuttles involving un-vaccinated people<br />• Wear a mask covering mouth and nose while in shuttle vehicles<br />• Open windows to allow for air circulation<br />• Avoid carpooling to distant sites<br />All participants should bring a personal mask to be worn as needed.<br /><br />Do not attend if you think that you may have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the past two weeks, or if you have any of the signs and symptoms of COVID-19, including but not limited to: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or
