Events - Event View

This is a repeat of my last year’s second highest rated kayaking event. I’ve asked the Park Authority to install a kayak launch. Unsure if this this will ever happen but we will launch from the same places we did last year. We build a human chain to move the boats and deliver travelers.<br /><br />This will be about a six mile paddle which will include seeing Mount Vernon (from the wide section of the river) and exploring Little Hunting Creek.<br /><br />This year, I’ll explain first we will paddle to Mount Vernon and turn around and paddle under the stone bridge under the GW Parkway. We will keep to the right as motor boats might be exiting the creek.<br /><br />You have the option of paddling beyond Mount Vernon but let us know if this is your plan before we launch.<br /><br />For this trip, I request that you wear a life vest. In the event of emergency this will really help us rescue you.<br /><br />The wind can also create rolling waves on the open river.
