Changes Afoot on CCA Website

After 18 years of dedicated service, Susan Sherrod has stepped down from the position of CCA webmaster. Her tenure was marked by major expansions and improvements to the CCA website, including the arduous effort to migrate to the current hosting platform, ClubExpress.

We have a new webmaster, Peter Ryan. Peter has a strong background in information technology, having maintained another club website for 15 years and created and maintained content webpages for a major government agency. He also has been assisting with CCA webmaster tasks in recent years. 

Fortunately, Susan has agreed to serve as webmaster emeritus, to assist with the transition for the new webmaster, and to continue performing certain roles (including setting up Zoom calls and in-person presentations and working with the membership director on maintaining the membership database). Laura Kurup also will continue to provide some of her time and skills on webmaster tasks, and Grace Hassler will continue to help with our social media presence.

In addition, at the recent CCA membership meeting it was decided to launch a subcommittee to research options for improving and modernizing the website, including whether to continue using ClubExpress or to switch to a different platform, with consideration of costs, functionality, user experience, and ease of use by administrators and others who post content or send out communications using the website. The subcommittee held its first meeting July 20, 2026; the participants were Grace Hassler, Hugh Hilliard, Alexander Payne, Peter Ryan, Risa Shimoda, and Jon Zeidler. They will be meeting again in August, with a goal of making a recommendation by the end of the year.

We invite all members to offer their input on this effort. What do you like or dislike about the current website (format, content, functionality, user experience, ease of administration)? What would you like to see in an updated website? Do you have examples of other club websites that you particularly like? The subcommittee may initiate a more formal survey process, but in the meantime please reach out to any of the subcommittee members with your suggestions. The purpose of the website is to serve the members, so we welcome your input to help us achieve that goal.
