Trip Reports

George Washington Canal @ 4.19' - March 28, 20...

Five intrepid paddlers - Dean H, Ginny Q, Russel K (PFD), Tim T & Wayne McD - ignored the threatening weather forecast and enjoyed a high water GWC run (4.19', 12,000 cfs) with a nary a drop of rain. This was Russell's first trip as a CCA member and he paddled elegantly, welcome aboard, Russ!. Not so much a couple of more experienced paddlers who managed to spill between rapids. Among the trip highlights were separate spottings of two otters - one in the GWC and one in the Po. Diagonal Rapid was wood-free for the first time in several years. Conversely, 30-Eddy Rapid now has wood blocking the traditional center route, going right seemed to be best.
