Saturday, 5/17, Stonycreek River Canyon & Lower section: Joining me were Eliza Cava (K1), Saerom Park (K1), Sean Rodammer (K1), Edward Socias (K1) and Chad Dear (SUP). Due to the rains, the Stony was running at more than double the CFS of regular releases. For the first-timers, it was an exercise in building their collective self-confidence and for me as a trip coordinator to maintain a calm aura throughout the run. We felt well-prepared and confident to move forward with the adventure. We scouted the two most challenging rapids on the Canyon (Showers and Pipeline) and we all had clean lines through both. No incidents, no swims. Nothing but grins all the way down to Greenfield Park. Being part of the highly enthusiastic crowds who were there for Stonyfest helped a lot.
