The Canoe Cruisers Association- DC’s Kayak and Canoe Club- is preparing for the coming year with various opportunities for our advertisers. Last year was very successful with the addition of our email and PDF Cruiser Newsletter ads, and especially our first-ever Potomac Downriver Race Sponsorship program. As in previous years, we will continue to print our annual CCA Roster. The diverse formats and packages will fit the goals of any business.

The CCA was founded in 1956 and its 400 members plus their families are going strong! In 2023, 1,113 CCA members and guests attended 127 flatwater and whitewater trips. Members include avid whitewater paddlers, flatwater enthusiasts, fishermen, and sea kayakers who venture out on the lower Potomac and Chesapeake Bay. Members’ trips range from the Potomac and local creeks, the Shenandoah and James, Wilmington, central Pennsylvania, and out to the Youghiogheny and West Virginia.

CCA members use your products and services! Do you have a unique feature to highlight? Our members love the possibility of a discount for CCA members- and a new digital ad can pull them right into your world. For members who have moved away from the area, the CCA Roster and our new digital advertising make it easy for them to stay in touch with buddies and meet up on trips. We are also eager to get new people and visitors into paddling and finding ways to enjoy our rivers. The CCA is also a valuable local partner of many organizations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region that promote river safety, diversity, river access, and conservation- both financially and with hands-on events.

When members open their printed 2024 CCA Membership Roster this spring, they will see your ad. Ads may be published in color or black and white. See CCA GUIDELINES FOR ADVERTISING 2024.pdf for format sizes and placement possibilities.

Your ads will reach members via The Cruiser, our bimonthly newsletter, distributed both as a full-color PDF that is posted online and as an email sent to all members. The email summarizes all the articles, providing access to each one online, and has digital ads with live links incorporated. (see Newsletters) A few members receive a black and white printed copy, which also will display the ad. Advertisers may submit a logo or graphic to be included in these emails; these ads can be in color, and we can add a live link to the advertiser's website or Facebook page. Simple advertising copy that we can format is also a possibility. Your submission should be horizontal or square. Technical requirements for your ad are spelled out in the CCA CCA GUIDELINES FOR ADVERTISING 2024.pdf. You may choose to have your ad appear in 1, 3, or a full year of 6 issues of the Cruiser; rates are found on the Order Form. Ad space in the Cruiser is limited; order early to request your preferred months for your 2024 issues.

Become a CCA POTOMAC DOWNRIVER RACE SPONSOR! The four levels of sponsorship mean you can get as involved and in-person with this historic race as you wish. All sponsorships will include your logo on our 2024 race T-shirt, acknowledgement and a live link in our newsletter Race articles & Race Registration materials, Facebook post, and space for promotional materials at the Race picnic-awards area. Silver, Gold, and Platinum sponsorships offer additionally an individual display space at the lunch & awards site and advertisements in our email and PDF Cruiser Newsletter, and additional Facebook posts. A Gold Sponsor will additionally have their banner or flag visible in finish line photos, and recognition in our press release. One Platinum Sponsor, in addition to all the other perks, will have your banner or flag at both the Finish Line and Awards ceremony for those viral photos, and your logo will be highlighted on the body of the race T-shirt as “Presented by (Your Amazing Business).” Specifics of all the perks of Sponsorship levels, pricing, and more about the race, can be found on the 2024 POTOMAC DOWNRIVER RACE SPONSORSHIP.pdf information form.

The Race will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, with a backup date of Saturday, May 18, depending on Potomac River water levels at the racecourse location. The Race Coordinator, Risa Shimoda, can answer your questions and work with you on your Race Sponsorship planning.

The CCA is now collecting copy, links, and artwork for the Roster, CCA Race T-shirts, and the newsletter. Your advertising Order Form, logo, ad copy, live links, and payment are due Thursday, February 15, 2024. (Your digital content for the Cruiser newsletter can be submitted prior to the issue in which it first appears). Please email the Order Form to Advertising Coordinator Diane Hobbs. (address below) Payment can be made online on the CCA Storefront.

For questions regarding the content, format, or technical specifications, you may work directly with the appropriate club member responsible for the Roster, Cruiser newsletter, Race T-shirts, or Facebook. Please send all artwork, logos, ad copy, and live links for publication directly to the respective club member. Contact information is found at the end of this page.
