8 paddlers (Mike B, Alf, Tony, Toni, Bruce, Denise, Barb, and Jackie) chose to avoid the potential 4th of July weekend traffic returning from Dean's Rappahannock option and ran the usual GW canal, opting for the Jacuzzi channel/right side run. Level was 4.1 ft (11.1k cfs). Mostly sunny, some clouds, high 80s. On the return three adult eagles and an immature one were resting on a rock mid-river. As they flew off an adult could be seen encouraging the low-flying youngster to work a little harder; it listened and made it safely into the trees upstream of Exit Rapid. A fitting sight for a July 4th weekend paddle!
