Trip Reports

Thursday Trip 7/24 Rappahannock Fall Line
Author Last Post

We had 7 boats on the Rappahannock today for the Fredericksburg Fall Line section. In K1s there was Ernie K, Wayne M, and John S. In a C1 there was Bob G. In OC1s were Dave S, Mark W and myself. Bob and Dave are local Fburg paddlers who joined us. It was great having them to point out the lines since most of us hadn't been down there in a while, in my case over three years. The level was 1180 cfs which was low but very runnable. No issues to report. We did see an eagle, cormorants, herons and ducks. Afterwards some of us went to the local BBQ place Allmans for dinner. Finally, Mark W made it a full day of it by staying for the Fredericksburg Nats baseball game.

It should be noted that the Motts Landing put in has silted up considerably. Seal launches down the slide are now problematic as there is very little run out room, And lots of mud and muck. Some paddlers found it better to launch directly into the river upstream from the parking lot.
