We had seven paddlers for the Needles trip today. In K1s were: Tony Allred, Sean Caron, Sarah Kellet, Wayne McDaniel, and Louise Saulnier. In OC1s we had Mark Wray and Tim Tilson your scribe and Trip coordinator. The level was a bouncy 7,000 cfs. After putting in we stopped at the normal flat rock lunch spot. But we decided against an early lunch and pressed on. White Horse was kicking but everyone had, as John Snitzer likes to say , ”a dry hair day”. We were off by around 12:45 with a leisurely lunch at the HFOC Take Out.
I am not qualified to give a naturalist report on flora and fauna. We did spot a persistent heron at the normal lunch spot. We had stopped for a few minutes to decide on where/when to eat. The heron wasn’t budging from his fishing spot. I pity the fish there. (Tim Tilson)m
