		Sunday Paddle - Cacapon River

			About this event
Well, Debby did not provide all of the rainfall that was hoped for but the Cacapon River in West Virginia is projected at 800 cfs on Sunday, a good level. For those not familiar with it, this is Class II run and I would rate it as a level above the George Washington Canal in difficulty. It has three Class II ledges, the rest of the trip is Class I-II. It’s a lovely paddle with spectacular scenery. We will meet at 10:00 at the takeout which is on river right, just downstream of WV Route 127 (39.4035, -78.4172) Alternatively, you can meet at 8:30 at the Wyndham Garden Inn in Manassas (I-66 with Rte 234 - exit 47B, 50 yd N on 234 to traffic light, right on Vandor Lane just before gas station; cul-de-sac at Wyndham Gardens Inn B, G 38.802208, -77.518028) to form a carpool. Pack a lunch. The weather forecast is delightful – high in the low 70s under sunny skies.
As always, please let the trip coordinator (Wayne McDaniel, macinmd1@gmail.com, 443 542 8779) know if and where you will be joining.
PFDs are required for all. Helmets are required for kayakers using spray skirts and highly recommended for all others. Airbags are strongly encouraged for boats without other means of flotation. If you need safety equipment, please advise the trip coordinator in advance.
