About this event
It's the George Washington Canal again on Sunday (9/22/24). The meeting time is
9:30 at the Violette's Lock parking lot in order to run a loop trip with return via the C&O
canal. The CCA annual picnic will be occurring at 1:00 PM at Riley’s lock, so we should
be able to complete our loop, and get packed up in time for the picnic.
As always, please let the trip coordinator (Dean Hawes, dean@haweslink/.net), 703-
862-5721) know if you will be joining.
The morning weather forecast indicates an air temp in the mid 60s under with a small
chance of showers (we’ll keep our eye on that). The forecast river level is a respectable
3.1’ on the Little Falls gauge.
PFDs are required for all. Helmets are required for kayakers using spray skirts and
highly recommended for all others. Airbags are strongly encouraged for boats without
other means of flotation. If you need safety equipment, please advise the trip
coordinator in advance.
