Sunday Paddle - GW Canal Loop
About this event
This week we will run the Class II George Washington Canal, crossing the Potomac to run the through islands/GW Canal and then re-crossing to return via the C&O Canal.
Meet at 10 for a 10:30 am departure at the Violette’s Lock parking lot, 13948 Violette’s Lock Rd, Poolesville MD. As always, please let this week's trip coordinator, Jackie Hoglund, know if you will be joining: jhoglund1 @yahoo.com.
Weather and water forecast: Little Falls gauge is predicted to be 3.0'. Water temperature 55 degrees, air 55 at 10 am rising to 68 by noon. The rule of thumb is to dress for immersion.
PFDs are required for all. Helmets are required for kayakers using spray skirts and highly recommended for all others. Airbags are strongly encouraged for boats without other means of flotation. If you need safety equipment, please advise the trip coordinator.
