Movie Nite with Blue Ridge Voyageur Paddlers
About this event
BRV invite to see paddling movies and get other updates about the spectrum of paddling in the area and elsewhere. We have ordered a variety of films on solo play boating (open canoe), classic Canadian canoeing, sea kayaking (the Upper Peninsula's Apostle Islands, the East Coast, the West Coast, and Alaska), extreme boating, stand-up paddle boarding, and more. The exact program will be determined by film arrival.
Because of the passing of John Seabury Thompson and Louise Holcombe Morris, we will be showing:
1--various parts of This Is Canoeing (3 hrs-12 films) (the 1000 mile birchbark expedition would have been up his alley) and
2--images of Louise (1972 Olympian-Augsburg) in her 13 foot 2 inch glass boats, her canoe racing with Barb Brown, and her sheer joy of being on the water whether it be wild rapids, surfing, or gliding through swamplands.
Folks often go to dinner at a nearby restaurant afterwards.
