Help Us Celebrate as CCA Downriver Race Turns 70!

CCA will be hosting our annual race once again in May (date to be determined in January). This year will be super special, however, as we will be doing so for the 70th time!
We are seeking volunteers to plan the event itself. We welcome you all, whether you have volunteered for years or never before.
We have particular needs in several planning areas:
- Seeking sponsors. Our wonderful sponsorship point person, Diane Hobbs, has stepped away from this role. She has made it pretty dang easy for you, with templates for everything you need to do and contacts for past and potential sponsors. Required only is a willingness to be upbeat and tenacious.
- Outreach. We aim to reach our community via social media—bolstering our Facebook group and growing an Instagram presence—and the development of two press releases prior to the race and one after.
- Our 70th Anniversary graphic! We'd like to repeat the success of soliciting and receiving this year's 69th race T-shirt graphic, and use that new graphic all year long online, in press releases, and in our communications with sponsors and partners. Here are guidelines for the CCA T-shirt design contest:
- Due December 31, 2024.
- Size of finished art will be 12 inches wide max and 12 inches long (if larger when they create the screens it can be made smaller).
- Includes that this is the 70th year of the Potomac Downriver Race and that the race course is Great Falls-Sycamore Island.
- No more than four colors, less if possible.
- Please indicate one or two colors of the shirt itself that can help your design; sometimes the negative space can work well with certain colors of shirts and not others.
- We prefer not to have saturated colors, since the shirts will be screen printed.
- Be prepared to share the final art in vector form to allow the race planners to use it in other formats.
