Holiday Party Highlight: Harking Back to 1979 Competition

The CCA Holiday Party Dec. 6 featured a showing of the painstakingly restored 1980 film "Fast and Clean," which documents the efforts of a group of young canoeists and kayakers—now famous in the world of slalom competition—working their way up to the 1979 World Championships held in Jonquiere, Quebec. The highlight of the evening was the attendance of, and tale-telling by, five people involved in the 1979 events and the making of the film: original co-producer Russ Nichols, U.S. whitewater slalom team coach Bill Endicott, canoeists Davey Hearn and Bob Robison, and kayaker and restoration co-producer Dan Isbister.
