We're looking at getting a new Volvo XC60. Does anyone know if the factory cross bars are wide enough to fit the Thule Portage gunnel mounts to that an open canoe fits on them? We only need to car top one boat, but the larger one is an antique Blue Hole 17A. Fairly wide.
I like the factory cross bars as they appear to go on and off so easily. Otherwise likely looking at Thule or Yakima aftermarket racks (we currently have Yakima with LONG round bars, as back in the day, we'd often have two canoes on top).
