This week's trip will be on the Class II George Washington Canal. We will cross the Potomac to run the canal and then re-cross to return via the C&O Canal. Since the river is coming down from 10' last Sunday, there may be new strainers so attendees will need good boat control in Class II water. Flotation required this week.
Meet at 9:30 am in order to be on the water at 10 am. Address: Violette’s Lock parking lot, 13948 Violette’s Lock Rd, Poolesville MD. As always, please let this week's trip coordinator, Jackie Hoglund, know if you will be joining: jhoglund1 @yahoo.com, 301 661 6916.
Weather and water temperature forecast: Little Falls gauge is predicted to be 4.8'. Weather dry and 65-74 degrees, water temp 63 degrees.
PFDs are required for all. Helmets are required for kayakers using spray skirts and highly recommended for all others. If you need safety equipment, please advise the trip coordinator in advance.
Do not attend if you think that you may have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the past two weeks, or if you have any of the signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
