Whitewater: Riley's down the Old Patowmack Canal to Pennyfield Lock
This will be a basic/beginner level white water trip (Class II), see link for description: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_scale_of_river_difficulty, from Riley's Lock in Poolesville, Maryland, down the Old Patowmack Canal, to Pennyfield Lock.

This outing requires at least a heavy duty inflatable kayak (sorry no rentals), life vest, your participation in the free beginner instruction at Riley's Lock on how to kayak safely through the canal, a bottle of water, and $5 cash per person to pay the park launch fee. This is an easy trip.

We will watch over each other and we will stay together as a group. All outdoor activities have risk, which you must accept in order to go. You could get wet, have the time of your life, make new friends, and get a possible sunburn.

This trip requires your limited logistical support:

We need one person to watch our boats while we drop off our vehicles at Pennyfield (takeout point).

We need two drivers (everyone should have a mask to wear in the car) to take us back to Riley's Lock to start the trip. It is a short drive from start to finish.

We also need someone to drive the two drivers back to Riley's Lock after the event to get their cars. We need at least one person to watch the drivers' kayaks at Pennyfield until they return.

Please be willing to help.

If you shuttle on this trip you should only have to do the task once as others will standup and help on our other trips.

Somehow I always end up driving. I volunteer to shuttle on this adventure.

This will be my first trip with my whitewater kayak, popsicle. I've started on my guest list so I don't have an extra boat.

Launch time is 10:45 AM sharp.

I have posted this trip on the Canoe Cruisers Assn website.

SYOTR

Please see the CCA Trip Guidelines: https://canoecruisers.clubexpress.com/content.asp
