Weekenders - Geo Washington Canal Loop

We will be joining Wayne McDaniel's Sunday Paddlers, which will be making their first trip this year. See their announcement - HERE:
The weather forecast for Sunday is excellent so this would seem to be a good week to launch the 2024 edition of the Sunday paddles season. We will return to the George Washington Canal for this week‘s trip. There is a river race in the morning in this area so we will shift our trip to the afternoon and meet at 1:00 at the Pennyfield Lock parking lot (12100 Pennyfield Lock Rd) to set shuttle and then proceed to Riley’s Lock for the put-in. As always, please let the trip coordinator (WAYNE McDANIEL, macinmd1@gmail.com, 443 542 8779) know if you will be joining. The weather forecast is sunny with a high in the mid-80s while the forecast water temperature is in mid-60s, making the apparel decision a bit tricky. For myself, I will be wearing a dry top and leaving the drysuit at home. The forecast river level is 3.8’ on the Little Falls gauge, an excellent level for this section of river. ? PFDs are required for all. Helmets are required for kayakers using spray skirts and highly recommended for all others. Airbags are strongly encouraged for boats without other means of flotation. If you need safety equipment, please advise the trip coordinator in advance.
